During my time at Colegio Montfort, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Madrid every weekend with my friends. We would usually take the bus into Avenida de America before using the metro to get to Sol. The whole journey to get from the school took around an hour which was perfect as it gave us plenty of time to discover the city before we had to be back by 8.
We got to explore the famous city and by the end of the two months we had visited pretty much every museum, park and football store that there was. We got to see the royal palace, the government buildings, Retiro park and even stand on the plaque in Sol which symbolises the centre of Spain (it’s meant to be good luck if you stand on it). We also visited a roller coaster park as well as taking a tour of the unbelievable Santiago Bernabeu which is really enormous.
We ate in small tapas bars which I loved even though the portion weren't very big. During one of the weekends we found a small Italian restaurant which we started eating at quite regularly because it was such good value and very delicious. When even found a restaurant where we could watch the six nations which was great as we were all rugby fans.
The trip was so much and I learnt so much about the Spanish culture. I was amazed at how friendly everyone was especially when we visited Sol. I really hope I can visit Madrid again as it really is an amazing city.
